Recruiters here search LinkedIn, not job boards. Set yours up the Dubai way

By Prudhvi Polavarapu, supply chain and e-commerce operations leader in Dubai

When I needed a warehouse manager, I did not start by posting an advertisement. I opened LinkedIn and searched, the way nearly every hiring manager in this city does. I typed a title, added two systems, filtered by location, and worked through the results. If you understand that ninety-second search, you understand the entire game.

You are a search result before you are a candidate

Recruiters search by title, skill and location, in that order. Your headline is the single line the search engine and the human both read first, so write it for the search box, not for poetry. Here is a real rewrite. Before: Passionate supply chain professional seeking new opportunities. After: E-commerce Fulfilment Manager 路 WMS 路 Last-Mile 路 Marketplace Operations 路 UAE. The first version is invisible to every search that matters. The second appears in exactly the searches run by people with jobs to fill. Same person, different fate.

A headline is not a mission statement. It is the address recruiters use to find your door.

Location is the first filter, so pass it

Recruiters filter by location before they read a single word, and candidates outside the region receive a fraction of the attention. If you are in the UAE, even on a visit, set your location accordingly. If you are not here yet, say so with precision in your first line: relocating to Dubai in January, available for interviews now. Precision reads as seriousness. Mystery reads as risk, and nobody hires risk when the next profile is one click away.

Your experience section is a ledger, not a job description

Nobody hires a responsibilities list. Mine says things like 500,000 same-day shipments a year for Namshi, and AED 180,000 recovered from vendor over-billing through monthly reconciliation, because those lines negotiate on my behalf before I enter the room. Audit every role on your profile with one question: what grew, what dropped, what did I hold steady under pressure, and by exactly how much? One honest number outworks five adjectives, and recruiters here have read every adjective already.

The ten-minute daily routine

You do not need to become a content creator. You need to look alive, because a profile that engaged with the industry this week reads as current, and one silent since 2023 reads as abandoned. Ten minutes, every day: one thoughtful comment on a GCC logistics or e-commerce post, one connection request with a real sentence attached, one follow of a company on your target list. Thirty days of this and your profile-view statistics will make the argument for me.

Proof beats polish

A clean professional photo and a non-default banner matter, but recommendations matter more, because in a referral city a public recommendation is a referral that compounds forever. This week, ask three people who actually managed you. Most professionals never ask, which is precisely why the profiles that have them stand out like lit windows on a dark street.

DO THIS TODAY

The recruiters are already searching tonight. The only question is whether your profile is built to be found.
